It all started with the purchase receipt 6 October 2000 -
Here is the meaningless Sony European Guarantee 6 October 2000 -
My TV broke down .... here's the engineer's report 16 August 2001 0
Mastercare came and picked it up. They left me a receipt   24 August 2001 8
Mastercare says Dear Mr Wawn we are trying to fix your TV 3 September 2001 18
Mastercare says Dear Mr Wawn we are still trying to fix your TV, but we need parts 10 September 2001 25
I ring Mastercare and Mastercare says repairs will be completed today 14 September 2001 29
Mastercare says we ain't made much progress 17 September 2001 32
I ring Mastercare and Richard says the manager will call you back. You guessed it, it never happened. 21 September 2001 36

AND ON THE VERY SAME DAY .... the other hand of Mastercare says we can't fix your TV, but we will give you a conditional credit note. It last for two weeks ! Page 2 26 September 2001 41
BUT, my TV is no longer on sale at Currys. The EQUIVALENT model is the KV28LS35S. It now costs 799.59. So where will the other 150 come from ?

But, my Sony European Warranty says 'repair or replace'. Now, it took a while to learn that was useless (see the Sony letter).

   
Dixon's Customer Service in Sheffield say they've got my letter (don't know which one) and they'll get back to me. That didn't happen either. 26 September 2001 41
I write to Mastercare telling them that I ain't paying another 150 and please confirm you will REPLACE my television. They ignored that too. 1 October 2001 46

Sony finally reply to my two letters and say that they will not do anything whatsoever to help. So what use is my Sony European Warranty ? So why have I bothered to buy my TV from a reputable manufacturer. 5 October 2001 50
So this is the last straw ..... I write to the Directors of Currys warning I will take legal action AND THEY IGNORED THAT TOO 12 October 2001 57
